The Youth Delegates
Hello, we are Clara and Jens – and together we are the Germany Youth Delegates to the UN General Assembly 2010.
Clara Leiva Burger
I come from a small town near Nuernberg, Bavaria and was born in 1989. Since three years I´m studying Social Work at a catholic university near Munich. Participation of young people is very important for me. Since I´ve been nine years old I have been an active member of the KjG, a catholic youth association where participation takes place on every level. There I´m for example engaged as a leader in our parish youth group to organize events and summer camps and to raise my voice for the issues of boys and girls. Therefore I also develop and implement structures which supports codetermination in order to motivate young people to take over social and political responsibility. An important task of my work as a member of the woman assembly committee is to enforce equal treatment between men and women as well as the handling of gender-specific needs. Even on a regional level I represent the interests of young people as a board member of the youth council Fürth Land and while organize projects in my hometown.
„ Every young person has a voice which should be used and heard! Everyone can participate. Only those who are taking an active part in decision-making create a world where growing up is a pleasant and exciting journey!“
Jens Christoph Parker
I was born 04.21.1988 in Bremen. Right now I´m studying economics in Frankfurt am Main, while working simultaneously at Commerzbank AG. I´ve collected experiences in the field of working with children and youth as a group leader of the German Lifeguard Association and a media center. During my school years I was a part of the youth cabaret AntiToxin. Participating at academies of the alumni network of the German pupil academy (CDE) I´m still taking part in cabaret courses. Besides that I´m constantly at poetry slam stages. I´m an active member of the Green Youth and Amnesty International. Besides that I´m a member of the student networks of ethics and economics in practice (sneep). Having participated at several Models United Nations (MUNs) as a part of delegations of the German Youth in Science and Society Association (JGW) I´ve learned a lot about the work of the United Nations and international politics.
“In a world, which is growing together very fast, where opportunities and challenges are close to each other, youth participation is becoming more and more important. Therefore I´m looking forward to get in contact with a lot of young people in order to represent the view of the youth living in Germany at the United Nations General Assembly 2010.”
